PH urges illegal OFWs in Kuwait to avail of amnesty program
MANILA - Undocumented Filipino workers still have over a week to avail of the amnesty program of the Kuwaiti government, the head of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said Tuesday.
The amnesty program allows undocumented migrants to rectify their status or exit without being fined.
"Ngayon ang tamang panahon kasi may amnestiya na programa until February 22nd. Ngayon ang tamang panahon para mag-avail nito," OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said.
Pinoys who want to avail of the program are urged to drop by at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) at the embassy. "Sa mga kamag-anak nila, pwede ring dumulog sa amin sa OWWA," he said.

Cacdac said there are 251,000 documented OFWs working in Kuwait. Of that number, 163,000 are employed as household service workers. However, there is no data on the number of undocumented Pinoys in Kuwait.
Repatriated OFWs, Cacdac said, will receive a livelihood assistance of P20,000 and P5,000 cash from the government.
On Monday, the Philippine government ordered a total deployment ban of OFWs to Kuwait following a series of deaths of Pinoy workers.
