Trapped in Kuwait, leukemia-stricken OFW wants mother, kids to visit him before he dies

An OFW in Kuwait who is battling leukemia has appealed to the government to have his mother and two children in the Philippines visit him in the hospital before he dies.
Jonas Sol Bersabal, now comatose, made the appeal through his girlfriend, Danjean Lunes, a nurse in Kuwait.

According to Lunes, Bersabel, who worked as a teaboy, has not seen his mother and children for seven years as he is barred from leaving Kuwait due to a pending legal case involving an unpaid debt.
Lunes said a company has charged Bersabal over an unpaid KD2,000 plus interest. She said the loan was made by Bersabal's former girlfriend and that he was just the guarantor.
Bersabal, Lunes said, was in the process of paying the debt but his sickness has worsened.
Although the hospital bill is covered by insurance, Bersabal is receiving no help from his company in securing a visit visa for his mother and kids.
Lunes said they have already reached out to the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait but it could not guarantee that it could help send Bersabal's mother and kids to Kuwait.
With the help of OFW advocacy groups, a representative from the Joint Assistance Desk of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration has already contacted Lunes.
—Ronaldo Concha/KBK, GMA News
