Suspect robs Saudi Arabia OFW at knifepoint

An overseas Filipino worker in Saudi Arabia sought help from the Philippine government after he was robbed by a knife-wielding suspect last Wednesday.
According to a Sunday report by JP Soriano on GMA News TV's Balitanghali Weekend, OFW Michael Arsolacia was at work when the suspect entered the office and pretended to be a client with a complaint.
"Bigla po siyang lumapit sa aking tagiliran at inagaw po niya 'yung bag na hawak ko. Nandoon po 'yung pera ng shop, pera ko po, iqama (residence permit) at insurance ko po," Arsolacia recounted.
"Nakipag-agawan po ako sa kaniya ngunit mayroon po siyang hawak na patalim at tinutukan po niya ako ng kutsilyo."
CCTV footage showed Arsolacia chasing after the fleeing suspect.
The OFW said the robber had two other male cohorts waiting outside the building.
There was P30,000 in cash inside the bag, a portion of which was Arsolacia's personal money that was allotted for his dialysis treatment.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) already advised the OFW to visit the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia so that he may be assisted in the filing a formal complaint and be provided with other appropriate aid.
The Department of Labor and Employment also vowed to assist Arsolacia through the labor attache. — Dona Magsino/DVM, GMA News
