4 foreigners face raps for disrespecting Philippine flag Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Criminal charges have been filed against four foreigners accused of disrespecting the country’s national flag in Ternate, Cavite, according to the Philippine National Police. The PNP said complaints for violation of Republic Act 8491 or the Flag and Heraldic Code were filed against Pakistanis Sharoon Manzoor, 29; Shmail Jalal, 36, and Shaid Manzoor, 45, and Joan Oprescu, 36, a citizen of Romania. The four were caught pulling a flag in the vicinity of the Marine Base Gregorio Lim in Barangay Sapang 1 at around 5:40 a.m. on June 26. “Disrespecting the Philippine national flag is a serious offense... Those found guilty of such acts will be held accountable under the law,” PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. said in a statement.
