The Filipino woman whose body was found floating near the pier in Tsing Yi had been missing for days. According to JP Soriano's report on "24 Oras," the overseas Filipino worker was said to have asked for leave from her employer so she could go out on her day off on Sunday. The report said the OFW, who had been described as more than 50 years old, never returned home. Citing reports, Foreign Employment and Welfare Services Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac of the Department of Migrant Workers said it was the OFW's employer who reported to the police that she was missing. On Thursday, her body was found floating near the pier. Hong Kong authorities informed the Department of Foreign Affairs and the DMW of the discovery of the remains. There remains no official information on the cause of death of the victim. The family of the OFW has been informed of the incident. Cacdac said the DMW was closely monitoring the investigation being conducted by the Hong Kong authorities. He also assured the assistance due to the OFW's family, and the repatriation of her remains in coordination with the DFA. —NB, GMA Integrated News
