2 Pinays face UAE court for 'cheating' in medical fitness test
Two Filipinas in the United Arab Emirates were charged before a court there for allegedly conspiring to cheat in a medical fitness test last August.
Prosecutors said a Filipina saleswoman had her fellow Filipina undergo a medical fitness test in her stead, news site Khaleej Times reported Thursday.
According to the prosecutors, the Filipina saleswoman, 41, had a contagious disease that would have kept her from passing the medical fitness test, which was necessary for her visa renewal.
But it was the alleged accomplice, a 33-year-old domestic helper, who was charged before the Dubai Court of First Instance for using official documents — the medical fitness test application — in the saleswoman's name.
She was also charged for using the saleswoman's passport.
The saleswoman was charged as an accessory to both crimes.
Investigation showed the domestic helper admitted that the saleswoman had given her her passport and the test form, and told her to convince blood sample takers believe she was the saleswoman.
However, the ruse was discovered by a 34-year-old Indian blood sample collector at the center where the medical test took place last Aug. 4.
When confronted, the domestic helper admitted that the passport and application belonged to her friend. — KBK, GMA News
