Food poisoning downs Pinoy workers in Saudi Arabia
A total of 170 Asian expatriates in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, most of them Filipinos, fell ill after eating food served by a catering company in their accommodations at Yanbu on Saturday, a Saudi news site reported Sunday.
The Filipinos work for a "reputed company" with branches in many parts of the Kingdom, according to a report on Arab News on Sunday.
While the Arab News report did not name the company, it said the firm has more than 5,000 employees.
It quoted the firm as saying this was the first batch of workers to fall ill after eating food from its catering company.
Citing initial information, the Arab News report said the Workers fell ill after being served dinner at their quarters last Friday.
Some complained of stomach pains, diarrhea and vomiting and were rushed to private hospitals.
The patients were discharged them after getting treatment, the Arab News report added. — LBG, GMA News
