PHL Consulate General in UAE to cancel unclaimed PHL passports by Feb. 27
Filipinos who applied for passports in the United Arab Emirates but have yet to claim them have until Feb. 27 to do so, Philippine officials there said Wednesday.
Philippine Vice-Consul to the UAE Gerry Suliguin said the passports, which were issued between May and June 2013, are due for disposal after that date.
Suliguin told UAE news site Khaleej Times the passports issued to Filipino expatriates and their families in Dubai and the Northern Emirates will be destroyed if they remain unclaimed.
Applicants can claim their renewed passports from the PCG before the deadline, the report said.
He cited Department Order No. 37-03 by the Department of Foreign Affairs dated September 23, 2003, on the disposal of unclaimed and spoiled passports.
Under the order, passports shall be cancelled if they remain unclaimed by applicants or authorized representatives and travel agencies six months after the date of issuance. — KBK, GMA News
