Applicants looking to renew their passports may avail of an extension on their passports' validity, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday.
Passport validity may be extended for free for not less than one year but not more than two years upon request while applying for renewed passports, though regular fees for passport renewals still apply, the DFA said.
Applicants who wish to avail of the extension must claim their passports within six months of the original date of release lest they forfeit them.
They must also present their extended passports when claiming their renewed passports.
Passport-related inquiries can be directed to the DFA-Office of Consular Affairs or any Regional Consular Office, Mall-based Satellite Office, Philippine Embassies and Consulates, or through email to passportconcerns@dfa.gov.ph. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News -
