UK flagship scholarship program opens door to 30 Pinoys for AY 2016-2017
Filipinos looking to study in the United Kingdom can now apply for the Chevening Scholarships Program for the academic year 2016 to 2017.
Unlike previous years, the British Embassy aims to provide full financial support to 30 scholars in the upcoming academic year to pursue a Master's degree at any of the UK's top universities.
British Ambassador Asif Ahmad said their partnership with private groups enabled them to expand their program following a previous infusion of funds that allowed more scholars into the previous academic year.
“We want a diverse group of scholars, so we are encouraging ambitious, driven visionaries from all corners of the Philippines to apply for a Chevening Scholarship today," Ahmad said.
He added, “Award recipients not only receive a first-rate UK education, they become part of a vibrant community of Chevening Alumni and partner organisations, and enjoy exclusive access to a wide range of events and opportunities, engaging with people from different backgrounds and gaining a wider perspective as a result."
The British government awarded the prestigious scholarship to 11 Filipinos in 2013, while eight received the same in 2014.
