Pinoy wins P2M worth of gold in Dubai mall promo

A Filipino engineer based in Dubai won P2 million worth of gold bars in a sweepstakes held by a mall there for its anniversary, Gulf News reported on Monday.
Edmundo Catangay, general technician in Ras Al Khaimah, won a kilo of gold worth Dh150,000 or P2 million at a raffle held during the annual Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) extravaganza.
Catangay, an expat of two years, admitted that he forgot that he joined the draw at the mall City Centre Deira and thought the call by the organizers was a prank, the report said.
The father of two said he will use the money to purchase a house and lot in the Philippines.
DSS was held by Majid Al Futtaim, the holding company that owns City Centre Deira, to attract customers. The draw also featured air packages to Oman, Jordan, India, Sri Lanka or Lebanon. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
