DFA: Filipino couple among those killed in Paris blaze


The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday confirmed that a Filipino couple were among those killed in a fire that hit an apartment building in Paris on Tuesday.
"The Department conveyed its sympathies after the Philippine Embassy in Paris tonight received confirmation from the Crisis Center of the Paris Prefecture under the French Ministry of Interior that a couple of Philippine nationality were among the 10 people who were killed in the fire on Rue Erlanger at the 16th Arrondissement of Paris," the DFA said in a statement.
The daughter of the deceased couple had initially sought the help of the  Philippine Embassy after her parents went missing in the fire.
The couple's identity was not disclosed by Philippine Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa Lazaro.
Four other Filipinos residing in the building survived.
A woman who was known to have a history of mental health problems had been held in custody by authorities after being suspected of starting the fire. —NB, GMA News
