DTI exec encourages OFWs in KSA to invest in PHL


JEDDAH—A Trade and Industry official called on overseas Filipino workers to set up a business in the Philippines if they are still have time and resources.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Abdulgani Macatoman encouraged OFWs in KSA to invest during his visit to the Middle East country in search of Saudi possible importers interested in Philippine products.

“Panahon na para makapaghanda ang ating mga mangagawang Pilipino na magkaroon naman sila ng pagkakakitaan na masasabi nilang kanila at hindi habang buhay na nangangamuhan."

Back in the Philippines, the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte has prepared a number of  livelihood programs for OFWs, Mactoman said, adding these income-generating initiatives by the DTI are in keeping with the Negosyo Center Program or Republic Act No. 10644,  also known as the Go Negosyo Act.
According to Mactoman, the law boosts the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that are also expected to generate jobs.
Aside from the KSA, Mactoman and representatives of from the business community, were also scheduled to visit other Gulf states.
Philippine Consulate officials led by Consul General Edgar Badajos and Consul Jennifer Dinggal assist visiting DTI officials in their meetings with Saudi Businessman.
During his meeting with OFWs, Mactoman said: “Ang pagnenegosyo po ay hindi yan sa laki ng capital kundi yung dedication, yung mindset ng isang OFW na gusto magnegosyo, at kami naman sa DTI ay I ga guide namin sila, yung tamang pamamaraan, tamang pagnenegosyo mula po sa pagrerehistro nila doon sa nais nilang tahaking negosyo ay aalalayan po sila ng ating departamento at libre po ang training.” —LBG, GMA News
