Palace assures assistance to convicted Pinay in Kuwait
MANILA, Philippines - Filipina overseas worker Jakatia Mandon Pawa, who was sentenced to death by a Kuwaiti court for the murder of her employer’s daughter, will get all the help she needs from the Philippine government, deputy presidential spokesperson Lorelei Fajardo said Monday.
Fajardo said the government, through the embassy in Kuwait, would exhaust all legal means to save Pawa, 31, from her death sentence.
“The embassy will continue assisting OFW Pawa and appeal the verdict before Kuwait’s court of appeals," she said.
Fajardo added that Philippine ambassador to Kuwait Ricardo Endaya is now monitoring the situation.
Endaya said Pawa was sentenced to death for the fatal stabbing of her employer’s daughter, Dalal al-Naqi, last May 14 in the Al-Qurain district, south of Kuwait City.
Reports said Pawa stabbed the victim several times while she slept, before jumping from the second floor of their house. - GMANews.TV
