RP products available soon in Johannesburg
MANILA, Philippines-Philippine food products will soon hit the shelves of South African stores after a partly Filipino-owned company successfully launched consumer products with an ‘Asian touch’ to the foreign palette.
“Touch of Asia," a company formed by Filipino Jelly Reyes and South African businessman Dirk Greeff opened its showroom on March 18 at Maid Marion Avenue in Randburg, western Johannesburg, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported Tuesday.
Among the food products that will be sold by the company are canned goods, and liquor, bottled flavorings and seasonings.
Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Virgilio Reyes Jr. commended Reyes and Greeff’s efforts to make Southeast Asian products, particularly Filipino foods, more visible in the South African market.
Ambassador Reyes also said that the company’s efforts are in line with the Associated of Southeast Asian Nation’s (ASEAN’s) efforts to introduce products from the region worldwide.
The showroom’s opening was attended by members of the diplomatic corps as well as South African businessmen and journalists, the DFA said. - Mark J. Ubalde, GMANews.TV
