RP envoy in Japan checks 'killing' of Pinay in Tokyo

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine embassy in Tokyo is still verifying the identity of the woman, believed to be the missing 22-year-old Filipino, whose torso was found in a paper bag in a Tokyo apartment on Thursday night, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday.

Claro Cristobal, DFA spokesman, said the Tokyo police have taken into its protective custody the female cousin and mother of the missing Filipina.

“The 22-year-old Filipina is currently listed by police as missing, pending positive identification of the victim," Cristobal said, quoting a report from Philippine Ambassador to Japan Domingo Siazon Jr.

He said Siazon has reported that the embassy “is coordinating with Tokyo police investigating the suspected killing of a woman thought to be a 22-year-old Filipino national who lived with a female cousin and another Filipina in an apartment in Tokyo’s Odaiba district, where a mutilated body past was found last Thursday night."

Cristobal said the Tokyo police are searching for two Japanese male suspects.

“The Filipina cousin, who discovered the body part and saw the two suspects inside the apartment, as well as the mother of the missing woman are in police protective custody
The embassy is closely cooperating with police in ensuring the safety of the family of the missing Filipina," Cristobal said. – GMANews.TV
