DFA Cebu resumes full operations for passport, consular services
Passport and consular services have resumed in Cebu province after they were suspended following the deadly earthquake that hit Central Visayas on Tuesday morning, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced Thursday.
In a statement, the DFA said its Regional Consular Office (RCO) in Cebu resumed operations after receiving assurances from the Pacific Mall management in Mandaue City that the building is structurally sound even after the earthquake that left over 100 people dead.
The RCO is housed inside the Pacific Mall in Mandaue City, Cebu.
To make up for the temporary suspension due to the earthquake, the regional office will also have regular operations on Sunday, October 20, the DFA said.
“Bearing in mind the public safety, DFA Cebu with due diligence will manage the number of passport applicants entering the building,” it added.
The DFA also said services had actually resumed Wednesday with releasing of passports and attending to emergency travel requests.
The regional consular office also kept its communication lines with the public open through its 24/7 Hotline and the DFA's social media accounts in Facebook and email. — KBK, GMA News
