Partnership for PhilHealth Employee Development Sealed
THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the provision of training and education for PhilHealth's employees.
Under the MOA, UA&P shall provide its expertise in training and education for PhilHealth employees based on their training needs through the Center for Research and Communication. It will provide a total of 19 modules and 85 topics covering various areas to provide employees with the needed training. It will also establish a mechanism that will update, revise, monitor and evaluate the implementation and outcome of their chosen programs.
The signing ceremony was held at the UA&P between PhilHealth President and CEO Alexander A. Padilla and UA&P President Dr. Jose Maria G. Mariano.
Padilla emphasized the importance of training for the attainment of universal coverage, saying that "this is a significant part of PhilHealth's evolving into a more academic and professional institution, requiring a lot of quality building and professional teaching, towards universal coverage. I hope that we can further expand our curriculum to cover other aspects that are necessary for PhilHealth."
The MOA shall be effective for two years, but PhilHealth is hopeful that the partnership will be renewed until PhilHealth is able to build the capacities of its employees with new learning and skills to better serve its members.
The UA&P is a private, non-profit institution of higher learning that offers some of the most outstanding academic programs in Asia because of their distinct focus on the human person’s multi-faceted development. Faithful to its Credo, UA&P aspires to form “individuals who are professionally competent, creative and enterprising, zealous for the common good, and capable of making free, morally upright choices, and who can thus act as positive agents of change and service to society.” (END)
