Ex-OFW arrested in Pangasinan, probed for links to gun-for-hire ring
A former overseas Filipino worker was arrested in Pangasinan province over the weekend after police searched his house in Bani town and found an M-16 rifle and ammunition.
Police served a search warrant on the house of Justice Borrego in Barangay Poblacion, according to a report by GMA Dagupan's Michael Sison on GMA News TV's "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon."
"Bawal kasing mag-possess ng mga baril nang walang kaukulang dokumento," said Bani police chief Senior Inspector Victor Abenojar.
The police Provincial Public Safety Company in Alaminos City is investigating Borrego for his alleged links to gunrunning and gun-for-hire activities.
Borrego declined to comment on his situation. He faces charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Meanwhile, in Dagupan City, five men including three beauty parlor workers were arrested after police caught them holding a pot session under the Magsaysay Bridge in Dagupan City Saturday night.
Seized from them were two sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) residue and paraphernalia. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
