DFA: Exercise extreme caution in Tripoli, postpone travel to Libya


The Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday advised Filipinos in Tripoli, Libya to exercise extreme caution due to the tensions in the area.
In a statement, the DFA said Filipinos living within a 100-kilometer radius of Tripoli should remain vigilant.
It also advised overseas Filipino workers vacationing in the Philippines but heading back to Libya to "postpone their travel until the tensions subside."
The DFA also reiterated the advisory of the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli for Filipinos to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary movement and public gatherings, and follow employers' instructions until situation normalizes.
Filipinos in Tripoli and surrounding areas were earlier advised by the Philippine Embassy to stock up on food, water, and other essential items.
The DFA also said Filipinos who want to be repatriated to the Philippines should contact the Philippine Embassy immediately for arrangements.

Fighting between government forces and Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army have been ongoing in the area. —KG, GMA News
