No recruitment yet for Filipino hotel workers in Israel
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration advices Filipino jobseekers to
disregard offers of employment in hotels in Israel especially those found in the social
media.
Administrator Bernard P. Olalia said he received reports from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Tel Aviv regarding a Facebook account run by a certain Donfrank Yabes who promises jobs in hotels and restaurants in Eliat, Israel.
Olalia said the governments of the Philippines and Israel have already signed the “Memorandum of Agreement on the Temporary Employment of Filipino Workers in the Hotel Sector in Israel” which delegated to the POEA the recruitment and deployment of Filipino hotel workers for that country. However, the recruitment process is still on hold until internal procedures and guidelines are finalized and approved by both parties.
“As agreed, the whole process of sending Filipino hotel workers to Israel shall be managed by the POEA and no private recruitment agencies or persons have been authorized to work on our behalf.
Any offer of employment as hotel workers in Israel from a third party, therefore, is considered illegal recruitment,” Olalia said. “Instead of submitting applications as well as personal information to online recruiters, job applicants may now register with the POEA through its e-registration website https://eservices.poea.gov.ph/,” Olalia added.
The administrator enjoins all applicants to be cautious about entertaining employment offers and to report any suspected illegal recruitment activities to the POEA Anti-illegal Recruitment Branch at 722-1192 or at the POEA hotlines 722-1144 and 722-1155. /END
