Kin of missing OFW Nilda Bongar seek meeting with her Saudi employer

Published  April 24, 2018 3:22pm  The son and brother of missing OFW Nilda Bongar are currently in Saudi Arabia to help in the search for her. Interviewed by GMA News, Bongar's son Dan Mark said they intend to talk with his mother's employer to get a clear picture on what happened to her. "Nais naming malaman kung anong nangyari sa nanay namin at gusto naming makausap ang kanyang employer at ang mga taong involved," Dan Mark said. Bongar, a widow who has four children in Pangasinan, has been missing for over a year already. Her employer had reportedly told Saudi Police in September 2016 that she ran away. The employer, Ashraf Abdullah Ahmed Dakman, personally met with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) deputy administrator Arnel Ignacio in February and surrendered her passport and belongings. China offers PHL, 58 other countries 30-day visa free travel to Hainan

Published  April 20, 2018 8:15am  China on Wednesday offered the Philippines and 58 other countries visa-free access to Hainan island in an effort to support a policy to open up the tourist island to the public. The Ministry of Public Security of China and the State Immigration Administration announced that the offer will be implemented beginning May 1. Under the new policy, individuals and groups from 59 countries may visit the province for 30 visa-free days as long as their tours are booked through China National Tourism Administration-approved travel agencies around Hainan. Heavily promoted by the ministry is Sanya, the southernmost city of Hainan, nicknamed the "Hawaii of China." The province has been implementing a 15-day or 21-day visa waiver policy for group visitors from 26 countries since 2010. Under the new policy, individuals from 59 countries can visit the province for 30 days visa-free as long as they book their tour through travel agencies. Condition of OFW forced to drink bleach improving —DFA exec

OUT OF ICU SOON Published  April 18, 2018 7:11pm  The condition of the OFW who was forced to drink bleach by her employer in Saudi Arabia has improved and she may be out of the Intensive Care Unit soon, a Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) official said Wednesday. Interviewed on QRT, Elmer Cato, acting assistant secretary of DFA's Office of Public Diplomacy, said the information came from Consul General Edgar Badajos who has been monitoring the condition of the OFW, Agnes Mancilla. "Sinabi niya (Badajos) na nag-improve na ang condition ni Agnes at malamang by this time nailipat na 'yan sa isang regular ward, kasi nasa ICU siya in the past several days dahil sa injuries resulting from ingestion ng chlorox," Cato said.
