DFA may libreng repatriation sa mga OFW sa Lebanon

Ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na sa pamamagitan ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas ay tinugunan nila ang kahilingan ng maraming manggagawang Pinoy Lebanon. Karamihan sa mga dito ay mga kababaihan na nag-overstaying habang ang iba ay nawalan na ng trabaho. Paglilinaw ng DFA na pag-aaralang munang mabuti ng Lebanese immigration office ang mga application form.

Sa report ni Bombo International Correspondent Michael Patron na taga- Bantay, Ilocos Sur at kasalukuyang nagtatrabaho sa Rome, Italy at isa sa mga mapalad na nakadalo sa nasabing misa na ramdam umano nila ang mensahe ng pasasalamat ng Santo Papa sa lahat ng mga katoliko sa Italy na isinasabuhay pa rin ang simbang gabi kahit malayo sila sa kanilang sariling bansa. Bukod sa misa, mayroon pang mga singers mula sa iba’t ibang Filipino community sa Italy na nagtanghal para sa mga dumalo sa nasabing espesyal na misa. Dahil umano rito, hindi umano naramdaman ng mga Pinoy sa Italy na malayo sila sa kani-kanilang pamilya.

Morocco ex-diplomat to UN accused of visa fraud over Pinoy workers

Published  December 14, 2019 4:25pm NEW YORK - Prosecutors in New York have charged a former Moroccan ambassador to the United Nations and others with visa fraud, accusing them of bringing workers to the United States using fake employment contracts and then exploiting them. Abdeslam Jaidi, his ex-wife Maria Luisa Estrella and her brother Ramon Singson brought in more than 10 workers from the Philippines and Morocco since about 2006, according to the indictment filed in federal court in New York. The visa applications said the workers would be employed as administrative or technical staff at the consulate or Moroccan UN mission, and some included fake employment contracts, it said. Instead, the workers were used as personal drivers, domestic helpers, and farmhands, the indictment said. Pinoy dead as pirates release oil tanker crew kidnapped off Togo

Published  December 13, 2019 10:54pm ATHENS — Pirates have released three crew taken hostage from a Greek oil tanker off the coast of the West African country of Togo in November, the vessel's manager said on Friday. A fourth hostage, a Filipino, died from illness during captivity, European Products Carriers Ltd added. It did not give details of the release. The tanker, Elka Aristotle, was attacked on Nov. 4 about 18 km (11 miles) from the port of Lome. The pirates fled after kidnapping two Filipinos, one Greek and one Georgian. The released men were safe and were "being debriefed by the local authorities prior to returning home to the Philippines, Greece and Georgia respectively", the company said. A full investigation had been launched into the death of the Filipino. Filipino workers flock to leave crisis-hit Lebanon

The embassy issued a statement linking its offer of a free ticket home to Lebanon's free-falling economy. "More than 1,000 Filipinos, mostly women with some children in tow, arrived in droves to the Philippine embassy in Beirut to register for free mass repatriation scheduled in February next year," a statement said. Ang nasabing app ay para magkaroon ng madaling access ang mga OFW sa labor departments at sa mga Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLO) sa iba’t-ibang bansa. Ayon kay DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III, na isa ito sa makabagong paraan para mabilis na makapagsumbong ang mga OFW na dumaranas ng pananakit. Ilan sa mga feature nito ay ang ‘Wage calculator’ kung saan malalaman ng mga OFW kung magkano ang dapat nilang sahurin. Pormal na ilulunsad ang nasabing app sa susunod na buwan kasabay ng ika-86 anibersaryo ng DOLE.

NAGA CITY – Nagdiwang din ngayon ang Filipino community sa Hong Kong dahil sa naging resulta ng District election. Sa report ni Bombo International Correspondent Ricky Sadiosa, sinabi nitong masaya aniya ang mga overseas Filipino workers (OFW) dahil umaasa din ang mga ito na tuluyan nang mawawakasan ang halos anim na buwang protesta sa nasabing lugar. Ayon kay Nelson Arais, isa sa mga distressed OFW na nagtrabaho sa Dubai, napaka-bagal ng OWWA-Cordillera sa pamimigay ng tulong. Aniya, hindi tinupad ng ahensiya ang pangakong financial assistance para sa mga distressed na OFWs. Isinalaysay pa niya na maraming beses na itong nagpabalik-balik sa OWWA mula pa noong Hulyo para iproseso ang mga kinakailangang dokumento ngunit hanggang ngayon ay wala itong natatanggap na tulong mula sa ahensiya. Sinabi niyang nangako ang OWWA na matatanggap niya ang pinansiyal na tulong pagkatapos ng isang buwan ngunit hanggang ngayo ay wala siyang nakuhang benepisyo. Idinagdag ni Arais na nakatanggap na ng pinansiyal na tulong ang mga kapwa niya distressed OFWs na nagaplika sa ibang rehiyon.

Elpidio Tanaliga Jr., owner of the  ALMASAI Finance & Investment Corporation, was arrested by the CIDG men led by Maj Russel Dennis Reburiano in an operation in Bgy. Mavalor in Rosario town. The operatives were armed with seven warrants of arrest for estafa. The arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by Patrick Norman Algenio, who invested 10M to Tanaliga’s company. Algenio was promised a five percent monthly interest from Tanaliga’s investment business. Tanaliga’s victims were mostly OFWs working in Saudi Arabia.
