THE Philippine Embassy in Germany recently met with officials of a newly-established German agency hiring international healthcare professionals to ensure the welfare of Filipino nurses going Berlin.

Philippine Ambassador to Germany Ma. Theresa Dizon-De Vega, with Labor Attaché Delmer Cruz, met with the officials of the German Agency for International Healthcare Professionals (DeFa) at the DeFa Headquarters in Saarbrücken to discuss the hiring process of Filipino health workers.
The meeting was attended by DeFa Executive Director Thorsten Kiefer, DeFa Head of Recognition and Visa Services Christoph Klos, and Anna Kaufmann of the German Federal Ministry of Health-Migration Policy and Integration Services Division.
They discussed the role of the new German agency in ensuring that the process for hiring international healthcare professionals, including Filipinos, would be transparent, fair, and efficient.
While in Saarbrücken, Dizon-De Vega and Cruz also met with some members of the Filipino-German community, including German lawyer Stefan Crauser who has been assisting Filipino nationals in Germany.
The community’s activities for the coming year were shared while the Embassy team encouraged the Filipinos to take part in the initiatives of both the Embassy in Berlin and the Consulate General in Frankfurt.
A brief meeting with the Regionalverband Director for Saarbrücken Peter Gillo also took place.
Gillo is responsible for the allocation of budgetary funding for the different socio-economic programs in Saarbrücken and is also a supporter of Filipino-German Community events and programs in Saarland.
