Palace: No deployment ban to Somalia despite latest pirate abduction
MANILA, Philippines - Despite the latest abduction of 26 Filipino sailors aboard a Greek vessel off Somalia, Malacañang on Friday said it is not yet imposing a deployment ban of Overseas Filipino Workers to Somalia.
Radio dzBB'ps Aileen Intia reported that Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said he had talked with Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo and Labor Secretary Marianito Roque, and that both secretaries agreed that Filipinos were not the intended targets of the hijacking incidents.
