Pinay DH in Italy, in coma for 2 months, to be sent home

An overseas Filipino domestic helper who was comatose for two months and is currently under a government caring home in Rome is expected to be repatriated before the year ends.

Labor attaché Manuel Roldan recently visited 78-year-old Edilberta Rubio, of Bulacan.

Rubio had been working in Italy for more than 20 years.

A robbery incident landed Rubio in comatose condition and in a hospital for months.

Reports said Rubio was hit by a pipe and robbed of more than 1,800 Euros or around P200,000.

Reports added that Rubio's kin wants her to be released from the caring home.

Roldan said Rubio’s repatriation may take awhile because they are still getting in touch with her employers for her pension and other benefits. -- Danny Buenafe, ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau chief
