American woman accuses Fil-Am husband of abuse, infidelity
An American citizen sought refuge with the Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) after her Filipino-American husband allegedly started to abuse her and her children physically since they migrated from the United States to the Philippines last year.
The complainant, who was named “Amanda,” said she managed to escape from their house with their children on Sunday, a report of State of the Nation's Lala Roque said.
According to Amanda, the abuse started when they migrated to the Philippines in 2012.
She said she could not leave their house because her husband kept the gate locked.
“I'm so scared I actually feel so bad because they [their children] don't deserve this,” Amanda said.
Amanda presented pictures showing the bruises she and her children had because of the alleged physical abuse they suffered.
She claimed that she had a heated argument on Saturday with her husband who was allegedly hurting their 13-year-old daughter.
“He really had her by the back of her head and he was going to punch her and I told him that if he didnt stop I was calling the police,” Amanda said, adding “He came after me and he went to grab me.”
She also discovered through audio recordings that her husband, a war veteran, was allegedly having an affair with the nanny of their children.
“So I started recording and my niece told me that on the recording it says '“Why dont you tell her you guys are through and you and I are together,” Amanda said, adding that the nanny allegedly said that in front of her daughter.
Amanda and her Fil-Am husband have been together for eight years.
Meanwhile, the DSWD will help Amanda file a case against her husband and the nanny.
They are also monitoring the case closely and coordinating with police authorities to resolve the case.
“Meron anggulo na pinalalabas yata nitong lalaki na nagpunta sa eskwelahan yung lalaki, at itong dalawang anak niya ay kinidnap ng asawa niya allegedly,” DSWD Manila head Jay dela Fuente said. -Andrei Medina, VVP, GMA News
