PHL Embassy: No report of Pinoy affected by new twister in Oklahoma
No Filipino has so far been reported killed or injured in the wake of new tornadoes in the Oklahoma area, the Philippine embassy in Washington said Saturday (Manila time).
In posts on its Twitter account, the embassy said it and the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago will continue to monitor the situation.
"(The Philippine) Embassy has so far not received any reports of any member of the Filipino community affected by the latest weather disturbance," it said.
But it said it and the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago are "monitoring (the) situation in Oklahoma after it was again hit by violent tornadoes Friday." (https://twitter.com/philippinesusa/status/340692516129095680)
So far, it said Ambassador Jose Cuisia Jr. had noted five deaths reported after the latest tornado.
Earlier reports said a mother and child were among at least five people killed due to the severe weather conditions in Oklahoma.
Last month, the embassy said an earlier tornado that hit the Oklahoma area displaced at least one Filipino and narrowly missed a church frequented by Filipinos.
In that tornado, it said a Filipino's home was hit by the tornado that struck Moore . - VVP, GMA News
