PHL Embassy: No Pinoy among casualties in California shooting
No Filipino was reported to be among those killed or wounded in a shooting incident in Santa Monica in California last weekend, the Philippine Embassy in Washington said Sunday (Philippine time).
In posts on its Twitter account, the embassy quoted Ambassador to Washington Jose Cuisia Jr. as saying: "(The Philippine) Consulate General in Los Angeles has not received any report of Filipino casualties in (the) Santa Monica shooting."
Also, it cited information from the Philippine Consulate General there were some "500 Filipino students at Sta. Monica College."
Cuisia was also quoted by the embassy as saying the consulate in Los Angeles will continue to monitor developments related to the shooting.
So far, it said the incident had "killed four and wounded five."
A report on Cable News Network said the gunman went on a rampage, including firing at a public bus before police shot him dead. — LBG, GMA News
