At least two Pinays to compete in Miss Universe 2013

Aside from the Philippines' own bet, at least one more candidate with Filipino blood will compete for the crown in the upcoming Miss Universe 2013 pageant.

The Philippines' Ariella Arida will battle it out with at least another rival with Filipina blood for the prestigious title.

It was recently reported that after a correction in the mix-up of results, Riza Santos was declared the winner of Miss Universe Canada 2013.

Santos, who was born in Canada, was a contestant in a Philippine reality television show here, and also acted in some television shows and movies in the country.

Philippine bet Arida, 24 years old, was crowned Binibining Pilipinas 2013 in April.

The beauty queen from Laguna province is a chemistry graduate from the University of the Philippines in Los BaƱos.

Meanwhile, various media reports indicate that Ruth Jennifer Ondo Mouchita, who will represent the country of Gabon in Central Africa, reportedly has Filipino blood as well. GMA News Online is still verifying this report.

The winner of Miss Gabon 2013 supposedly is half-Filipina--having been born to a Filipina mother--and can speak Tagalog fluently. Gian C. Geronimo, VVP, GMA News
