Pinay, boyfriend killed in Arizona road accident
A 20-year-old Filipina and her boyfriend became the sixth and seventh victims of wrong-way crashes in Santan Freeway in Chandler, Arizona, in less than a week.
Reports said Ashley Adea and her boyfriend Michael Ruquet, 25, died after a pickup truck driven by 68-year-old Patricia Murphy crashed into their sedan on Saturday morning (US time).
Murphy's nine-year-old grandson was hurt in the accident and is now recuperating in a hospital.
A report on Fox Phoenix said the accident occurred 10 minutes after traffic enforcers received a report of a wrong-way driver in a pickup truck on the eastbound Loop 202.
A separate report on AZ Central said the pickup truck crashed into the victims' vehicle "head-on."
The AZ Central report said Murphy was tested positive for benzodiazepine and opiates and had the blood-alcohol level over two times the legal limit.
