PHL ConGen in HK closed Aug 21, 25

Filipinos in Hong Kong were advised that the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong will be closed on August 21 and 25, which are regular holidays in the Philippines.

In an announcement on its Facebook page, the consulate general said there will be no issuance of Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) on those dates and urged overseas Filipino workers to "plan ahead."

August 21, a Thursday, is Ninoy Aquino Day, marking the martyrdom of former Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr., father of incumbent President Benigno Aquino III.

The elder Aquino's assassination triggered protests that eventually led to the 1986 People Power revolt that ousted then-President Ferdinand Marcos.

Meanwhile, Aug. 25, a Monday, is National Heroes' Day.

Filipinos in emergencies may contact the consulate general at:

- 9155-4023 for consular assistance
- 6080-8323 for labor
- 6345-9324 for OWWA
- website: www.philcongen-hk.com
- email: hongkongpc@philcongen-hk.com
- fax: 2866-9885
