30,000 benefit from 'one-stop shop' for OFWs in Ilocos Region

Some 30,000 OFWs have been serviced by the One-Stop Service Centers in the Ilocos Region since its establishment last year, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), as it promised to continue providing quality service.
The One-Stop Service Centers in the region are located in Candon City Hall and Manna Mall in San Fernando, La Union.
The centers were established in various areas across the country last year upon the orders of President Rodrigo Duterte, who wanted a "one-stop shop" that would cater to the needs of OFWs.
Through these centers, OFWs may avail of services from Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Professional Regulations Commission (PRC), Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
"Patuloy naming titiyakin ang pagbibigay ng mabilis na serbisyo mula sa DOLE, OWWA, POEA, TESDA, PRC, at iba pang ahenisya, lalo na sa ating mga OFWs,” said DOLE Region 1 head Nathaniel Lacambra in a statement on Wednesday.
The centers are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except on weekends.
OWWA catered to the most clients at 39,611; 28,808 applied for Pag IBIG membership loyalty card, STL, and provident benefit claim; 29,288 were SSS clients; 22,174 paid for their PhilHealth contributions; and 16,002 availed of DFA services. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
