Pinay child finds love, acceptance in US family
From an orphanage in a second-class municipality in Iloilo, young Filipina girl Janella is now enjoying her first spring break in Illinois, USA, courtesy of a loving couple that adopted her last year.
Mandy and Jeff Rose said they waited five years for little Janella to be part of their family, which is already composed of three young boys.
"We literally got a call on a Friday that we could travel, and then we booked everything on a 24-hour period," said Mandy in a video documenting their June 2016 trip to the Philippines to pick up Janella in Cabatuan, Iloilo.
"It was the craziest 24 hours of my life because it was international flights and in-country flights and hotels in different cities," she added.
"[But] we were ready. We had things packed. We were ready to jump on a plane."
According to Mandy, what excited her about Janella being part of the family was "having a relationship with her that's different from what I have with my boys."
"Also probably most excited to see the relationship that she'd have with Jeff. Just to see him with a girl, I feel like it's gonna melt my heart," she added.
Jeff, for his part, said he is up to the challenge of becoming the father to their unica hija.
"She would fall, I will be right there to pick her up, to hold her and comfort her. I'm looking forward to being her protector," he said in the same video.
For Mandy, it is clear from the start that Janella was destined to be a part of their family.
"Just from the beginning we love her and we will love her forever and she will always have a home with us," she said. —KBK, GMA News
