Man jailed, ordered caned for molesting Pinay helper in Singapore

Singapore's public court sentenced a senior security specialist to 11 months in jail and three strokes of the cane on Monday for repeatedly molesting his Filipina domestic helper.
The Straits Times reported that Singapore permanent resident Jacob Kumar Ross B. Isaac Ross, 40, was sentenced after admitting to two of four charges of molestation.
Ross began touching and hugging his 30-year-old employee not long after she began working for the Malaysian and his wife on November 28, 2015.
He told the Filipina shortly after January 10, 2016 that he "wants her by the end of the month" and only apologized when she called her agency to complain.
The Filipina was abused again on March 7 when Ross kissed her while she was tidying up the children's bedroom. He also asked her to apply medicated oil on his lower back with a roller on the same day.
Ross would harass her again in the children's room two days later by hugging her from behind and groping her breasts.
This latest act pushed the Filipina to tell his wife, who brought her to the police station to make a formal complaint.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Chee Ee Ling said the harassment would have continued "were it not for the victim's initiative in taking steps to report this matter to her agent and the accused's wife."
The Straits Times reported that Ross could have faced jail time of up to three years, fined, caned or received any combined punishment for each count of outrage of modesty. Rie Takumi/JST, GMA News
