Pinoy charged for killing another Pinoy in Singapore

A 29-year-old Filipino faces death by hanging in Singapore for killing a compatriot and housemate last Saturday.

Mark Laguerta was charged on Monday with murdering 27-year-old Bernard Montamayor Alojado in the 16th floor flat in the Whampoa area in Singapore. Alojado is said to have a wife and a two-year-old son left behind in Victoria, Tarlac.

The court ordered Laguerta to appear in court again on Feb. 11.

Alojado, who was in Singapore on a social visit visa, was found dead in the flat he shared with Laguerta and two women, also from the Philippines, and said to be nurses at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. All four are said to be in their 20s and have been renting the place for three months.

Alojado was found sitting on the floor, his upper torso slumped on the bed side beside where he sat on the 16th storey flat of Block 16 Jalan Tenteram in the Whampoa area.

Neighbors told police they heard shouting in the flat for about 20 minutes. Pieces of furniture were thrown about, followed by a sudden dead silence.

Alojado was no longer breathing when paramedics arrived at the flat. The police declared it as a murder case. - GMANews.TV
