Pinoy freed from Kuwaiti detention tells of bitter tale

A Filipino who was detained in Kuwait for two weeks for allegedly producing a lewd show arrived in the Philippines late Saturday and narrated the sad story that capped his 13-year career as a sales associate there.

Ferdie Nadera came back following his detention and subsequent deportation to be reunited with his family.

Nadera, a native of Quezon province, denied accusations that the "X3M Showdown" show that he worked for as a part-time production coordinator on August 29 was lewd.

"Tapos na po yung activity...wala na po ako dun, nakalabas na po ako...," he said.

The show that featured talents from several countries ended without incident but a few days later, photographs of a man who had no shirt on was published on Kuwaiti newspapers. According to reports, the shirtless man participated in the show as well as others who were dancing wild.

"Hindi naman ako ang main organizer I was [only in] the production [group] of the show," he added.

Nadera claimed that some persons who envied him spread the lies that led to his arrest, detention and deportation.

Mrs. Juliet Nadera also dismissed the allegation that her son had something to do with the alleged immoral acts in the show.

"Hindi ako makapaniwala.. hindi ganun ang pagkakilala ko sa aking anak," she said.

His brother, Glen, meanwhile, said he believes that some people may have helped Nadera survive the ordeal but these were not enough.

ABS-CBN News tried but failed to get a statement from the Philippine embassy in Kuwait about what happened to Nadera.

For his part, Nadera said he is thankful that he was able to come home to his family.

He said that now that he is back home, he wants to forget the bad experience he had in Kuwait. With reports from Apples Jalandoni and Israel Malasa, ABS-CBN News
