2 more countries lift border restrictions for Filipinos —DFA

Published October 19, 2020 2:35pm By MA. ANGELICA GARCIA, GMA News The Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday announced that Laos and Afghanistan have lifted inbound restrictions on Filipino travellers subject to flight availability and medical protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In a statement, the DFA said Malaysia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Nepal, Tajikistan and Hong Kong, meanwhile, have imposed stricter medical protocols and visa regulations for those who are exempt from entry restrictions. Mongolia’s borders also remain open but inbound travellers in the country are now required to present a negative COVID-19 test result and must have all applicable documents to support their visa status. Moreover, Japan has gradually opened up inbound entry for students, dependents, and technical interns, but still prohibits the entry of short-stay travellers, including tourists. With more countries easing their inbound and outbound travel restrictions, the DFA said it continues to advise the public to always check ahead of travel dates with airlines, as well as with relevant embassies or consulates before departure or before booking a ticket.—AOL, GMA News
