DOLE says DFA backed lifting of deployment suspension to Israel

By TED CORDERO, GMA News The temporary suspension of deployment of overseas Filipino workers to Israel will soon be lifted, the Department of Labor and Employment said Wednesday. advertisement DOLE's remark came after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), in a letter, recommended the lifting of the deployment suspension to the Middle Eastern country. “I was told, as of July 13, may na-receive sa Office of the [Labor] Secretary ‘yung letter ni [DFA] Secretary [Teodoro] Locsin, na nagre-recommend na muli nang ibalik ang deployment sa Israel,” DOLE International Labor Affairs Bureau Director Alice Visperas said at a virtual press conference. (I was told that the Office of the Labor Secretary received a letter from DFA Secretary Locsin, recommending the resumption of deployment to Israel.) Late in May, the DOLE temporarily suspended the deployment of OFWs to Israel amid the ongoing tensions between Israeli forces and armed groups in the Gaza Strip.
