MANILA – The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) has reduced the processing period for Filipinos applying for work visas for Taiwan.
On its website, TECO said the processing of visa application will now take six working days. Expedited processing will take about three working days, it added.
TECO said that effective August 9, 2013, all work permit applications of Filipino blue-collar workers, including the first time applications, substitutes and rehires, are now accepted.
However, TECO reiterates that the same requirements still apply and only the processing period has been changed.
TECO had imposed stricter measures for Filipino working visa applicants following the fatal shooting of a Taiwanese fisherman near Batanes last May.
It required OFWs to submit additional requirements such as the government-issued multipurpose ID, birth certificate issued by the National Statistics Office and a clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation.
The last two requirements must also be authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and TECO. It had also set 14 days as the period for processing visas. Expedite processing was not allowed.
