OFWs blast long lines at NAIA for terminal fee refund

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the country for a vacation have complained about the long lines at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to get their terminal fee refunds, a report on "Balita Pilipinas" said Tuesday.
OFWs are encouraged to avail of their terminal fee refunds as they are exempted by law from paying such fee, which has been integrated in airline ticket prices.
According to the report, the OFWs, especially those who have to go to their provinces, complained about the time they have to spend in the long lines and the extensive requirements needed to get their P550 refund.
Some skipped the line entirely due to the cumbersome process, the report added.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), which ordered the integration of the terminal fee in airline ticket prices, has yet to respond to the OFWs complaints, the report said.
The integration of terminal fee in airline ticket prices, or the International Passenger Service Charge (IPSC), is mandated under MIAA Memorandum Circular No. 8, which is being opposed by OFW groups. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
