2 'suicide' victims in HK to be home April 15- DFA

MANILA, Philippines-The remains of two Filipina domestic helpers who separately jumped out of their employers' high-rise apartments in Hong Kong last Monday will be repatriated to the country on Tuesday.

Melba Alava Pardua, 50, and Carolina Agabin Dacqui, 31, both from Isabela province, died after leaping out of their respective employers' homes for still unknown reasons.

Philippine Consul General in Hong Kong Alejandrino Vicente relayed to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) that the HK police is investigating the two separate cases that are apparently suicide incidents.

According to newspaper reports, Pardua, a native of Roxas town, was found dead just before noon outside her employer’s apartment building in North Point after allegedly jumping out of the apartment’s 10th floor.

Pardua was reportedly set to go back to the Philippines last Thursday for a vacation.

Dacquil, from Ilagan town, was earlier found dead at around 6 a.m. after leaping out of her employer’s 9th floor apartment in Aberdeen.

Pardua had been working for her employer for 13 years while Dacquil was in and out of Hong Kong for seven years.

“The consulate is coordinating the repatriation of the two remains to Tuguegarao on April 15," DFA spokesperson Claro Cristobal said in a text message. - Mark J. Ubalde, GMANews.TV
