Pinoy faces UAE court for filming Dubai housemates

A Filipino sales executive faced a United Arab Emirates court on Sunday for secretly filming his two female housemates in Dubai taking a shower.

But the Filipino insisted before the Dubai Court of Firs Instance he installed the secret camera to record water use, according to a report on Gulf News.

“Yes, I fixed the secret camera in the ceiling above the shower to observe how much water my housemates consumed while taking a shower,” he told the court, according to the Gulf News report.

Prosecutors had accused the Filipino of installing the camera secretly to watch his housemates naked while they showered.

The court may issue a judgment next week. The Filipino is presently out on bail.

The Filipino was accused by prosecutors of molesting two Filipina housemates aged 33 and 32 by secretly watching them naked while taking a shower.

While he initially denied the allegations, he admitted installing the camera in the washroom.

His admission surprised Presiding Judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi, who asked him if he worked for Dubai Electricity and Water Authority to check the victims’ water consumption.

The Filipino then dropped his head down in embarrassment, the Gulf News report said.

Testimonies

One of the Filipinas testified the incident happened after she saw the suspect entering their washroom, even though he and his family use a separate restroom.

“I doubted the reason why he used our washroom. When I looked up at the ceiling I noticed that there was a tiny medal-like lens attached to a USB," she said.

She said she unplugged the lens and switched it off, and afterward plugged the USB device into her laptop. She saw two video recordings, one of her showering, and another one of her Filipina housemate showering as well.

This prompted her to inform her housemate, and leave the apartment.

The women confronted the Filipino, who apologized and was asked to leave the house.

“I reported the matter to the police after two days,” the first Filipina housemate said. –KG, GMA News
