10 Pinoys repatriated from Indonesia

Ten Filipino repatriates from Indonesia were brought back home after the Armed Forces of the Philippines - Eastern Mindanao Command conducted the second leg of the Philippine-Indonesian Coordinated Patrol this year.
The repatriates, who were mostly from General Santos City, were arrested by Indonesian authorities for illegal entry and fishing in the waters of Indonesia.
They were released with the help of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Liaison in Manado, Indonesia.
The repatriates were received by Lieutenant General Felimon Santos Jr., commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command, and Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for Mindanao Uriel Norman Garibay during a welcome and arrival ceremony following the berthing of BRP Emilio Jacinto.
They were later handed over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for processing and assistance.
The second leg of the Philippine-Indonesian Coordinated Patrol was held from July 17 to 23 as a continuing effort of the two neighboring countries through the RP-RI Border Committee to secure the common border, prevent maritime and sea crimes such as smuggling and piracy.
"The coordinated naval operations we are conducting strengthens our relation with Indonesia, boost our security effort and provides both country the opportunity to develop inter-operability and strengthens cooperation in securing the border," Santos said.
The event culminated in Manado, Indonesia on July 24. —Erwin Colcol/KG, GMA News
