A 66-year-old man and his 24-year old Filipina wife were found dead in their home in an apparent murder-suicide in South Arlington, Texas.
Fort Worth officers, who responded to a tip by a family friend, found Alyssa Marie Mejia Rogers’ body in a deep freezer.
Alyssa, who came from the Philippines, reportedly complained of domestic abuse, something her husband, Edward Leon Rogers Jr., denied.
Edward was arrested because of Alyssa’s claims and a protective order was filed against him.
They were also going through a divorce.
She also recently went home to the Philippines where she left behind their young son.
The tipster was reportedly a friend of Edward’s. He said the American man confessed to killing Alyssa, and even showed him her cold body.
Edward reportedly told him that prior to killing her, he and Alyssa had sex, which they recorded. Alyssa, he said, was going to use the sex video to blackmail him as proof that he violated the protective order.
Thereafter, Edward claimed that he and Alyssa had an argument. He said he pushed her and she fell and hit her head.
Authorities eventually found Edward’s lifeless body in a bedroom.
It was presumed Edward put Alyssa’s body in the freezer before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Alyssa’s cause of death has yet to be revealed by authorities.
