RP cited as best practice country for EPS-Korea

POEA Administrator Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz shared with pride results of the survey
conducted by HRD Korea where the Philippines emerged as the Best Practice Country
among 8 other countries surveyed which are sending workers for Korea’s Employment
Permit System (EPS).

The survey showed that the Philippines had the shortest period for entry of foreign
workforce and has the best practice in 6 out of the 8 processes of the EPS implemented by the DOLE-POEA. These cover contract signing, preliminary training notification, visa issuance, medical examination, and entry preparation for the introduction of foreign workers to Korea.

The same survey results were presented during the recent fellowship training in Korea
on labor migration management under the ILO/Korea Partnership Program which was
attended by officials from 9 sending countries for EPS which include Cambodia,
Indonesia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam, all of
which have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on EPS with the Ministry of Labor
of Korea.

With such recognition, the POEA awarded its so-called EPS Team a special citation
during the agency’s culminating activity to celebrate its 25 years of dedicated service.

To date, a total of 20,476 Filipino workers had been deployed under this government
employment program. POEA News
