DFA: 28 more Pinoys to return from Syria
At least 28 more Filipinos are due to return home from strife-torn Syria on Sunday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said the 28 will arrive aboard two separate flights at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
"[The] 28 Filipinos from Syria will arrive in Manila today, April 7, on board two separate flights, bringing [the] total number of repatriates to 3,792," he said on his Twitter account.
Several batches of Filipino workers had been repatriated from Syria in past months.
Many of the returning workers were women who had been allowed by their employers to return home amid the violence there.
Expected to welcome the returning OFWs are officials of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and DFA.
The DFA had repeatedly appealed to OFWs in Syria to avail of the government's repatriation program to escape from the violence there.
It also asked the OFWs' kin to provide it with the OFWs' contact details. — LBG/BM, GMA News
