PHL Embassy in Washington closed on Araw ng Kagitingan April 9

The Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. will be closed on Tuesday, April 9, in observance of the Philippine holiday "Araw ng Kagitingan."

However, the embassy announced a hotline number that people with emergencies and who may need assistance can contact during the holiday.

"For emergencies requiring assistance from the Embassy, please contact telephone numbers 202-368-2767 or 202-467-9300," the embassy said.

Araw ng Kagitingan commemorates the Fall of Bataan, where Filipino, Chinese Filipino and American soldiers were surrendered to Japanese troops during World War II.

The surrendered soldiers were forced to endure a 140-kilometer Bataan Death March to Tarlac.
