Suspects in brutal attacks vs. Pinay, husband face Hong Kong court

The two young suspects in the brutal assault on a Hong Kong man and his Filipino wife last month appeared before a court Tuesday but the case was adjourned early as the Filipina became "too emotional."

A report on Radio-Television Hong Kong (RTHK) said the Filipina was too emotional to take part in the identity parade before the Tuen Mun court.

Filipina Irene Fok, 39, the stepmother of one of the two suspects, was wounded in the March 16 attack inside their house in the Pat Heung district.

Her husband Fok Lai-Chi, 53, was killed.

Authorities had arrested and charged Fok's son Fok Lap-yin, 18, and his friend Chan Ming-tin, 19, with murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder.

With Tuesday's development, the case was adjourned for two more weeks, the RTHK report said.

No pleas were entered and the two suspects were remanded in custody.

An initial investigation showed the incident occurred after Irene scolded the suspects at 3 a.m. for being noisy.

An argument ensued, and the younger Fok stabbed Irene while Chan attacked the elder Fok.

Neighbors called the police after they heard screams. The police arrived to see the parents covered in blood. - VVP, GMA News
