Pinay faces raps in Dubai for unmarried sex, loses baby
Facing raps before a Dubai court for having out-of-wedlock sex, a Filipina asked the judge for leniency after her premature baby died.
The Filipina, 30, admitted before the court that she had sex out of wedlock, got pregnant, and gave birth on New Year's Day this year, Gulf News reported Tuesday.
“After I gave birth to a premature baby girl on January 1, she fell ill on January 2. My boyfriend and I took her to a hospital. We were told that it will cost them Dh26,000 for a proper medical care of the baby. We didn’t have the money and couldn’t afford it. The baby died shortly after that,” the report quoted the Filipina as saying before the judge.
Her boyfriend, a Filipino, remains at large.
The presiding judge will pronounce the judgment on April 25.
The Filipina admitted before the court that she placed the life of her premature baby in danger, when she failed to provide her with proper medical care.
She said she and her boyfriend buried the baby at the Jumairah Open Beach.
However, she stressed she did not want to lose her baby.
“We could not afford Dh26,000 required for the care of the baby. When she died, (my boyfriend) insisted that we bury her at the beachside. So we put her corpse in a wooden box and went to the beachside by taxi. Then he buried her,” she said.
